YJCC student artists sell works to help kids

More than 35 art students in the painting and ceramics classes at the Bergen County YJCC have donated their work to be sold to benefit a noteworthy YJCC program, Project Open Hearts, Open Homes.

The exhibit opening and sale will take place on Thursday, July 10, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the YJCC, 605 Pascack Road, Township of Washington. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.

Project Open Hearts, Open Homes invites young Israeli teens who have been impacted by violence to the Bergen County community for three weeks of respite, home hospitality and fun in the YJCC’s Teen Travel Camp.

Over the past six years, this program has brought over 180 young people to Bergen County. This summer, approximately 30 Israeli teens—16 from the beleaguered town of Sderot—will benefit from the program. Project Open Hearts, Open Homes is funded solely by private donations.

The exhibit runs from July 10 through August 24. Most of the art students have donated multiple pieces for this show and sale. Artwork not sold at the July 10 opening will remain available for sale for the duration of the exhibit.
