Frank Manning Little League Tournament — The 2008 25th Annual Frank Manning Tournament hosted by Dumont Little League begins this week. The schedule is as follows:

n The 8u division is pool play, with playoffs starting this week.

n The 12u division is a double elimination bracket starting the weekend of July 12.

n The 11u division is a double elimination bracket starting the weekend of July 19.

n The 10u division is a double elimination bracket starting the weekend of July 26.

n The 9u division is a double elimination bracket starting the weekend of Aug. 2.

All games are played at Dumont Little League fields at Memorial Park Complex (except for 8u division).

There is currently room in all divisions. 

There is a $300 fee for 12, 11, 10, and 9u brackets, which includes umpires, balls and trophies. The complex has a food hut, bathrooms, walking track, basketball courts, picnic area with a pavilion and a playground.

The fee for the 8u division is $200. Teams provide a home field to play half their games, split umpiring fees every game and provide a game ball for every game. Semi-final and Final playoff games are held at Dumont which Dumont pays for. Trophies are provided.

Volleyball camp — A volleyball instruction camp will be held in the Quirk Gym at Dumont High School July 14-17 and Aug. 11-14. The camp follows those held for football, girls basketball and softball.

The program runs from 8:45 a.m. to noon and includes stretching/warmups, volleyball-related drills, the four basic skills of volleyball, team concepts and games.

Flag football registration — Registration for Dumont Recreation’s flag football season will take place in the fall on Sept. 25 and 26. The season starts October 2008.

The program is coed. There are two divisions: a 7- and 8-year-old division and a 9- and 10-year-old division. (Players must be 10 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2008.)
