New Milford softball players honored

Eight New Milford High School softball players have been honored with post-season recognition.

The team, which finished with a 16-8 record, qualified for both the county and state tournaments and received All-Star status..

Saporito, a junior, was named Second Team All-County Catcher.

Named to the First Team All-League BCSL Olympic Division were: senior Rebecca McClure, an outfielder; juniors Saporito, Kim Serra (third base) and Amanda Vaughan (first base); and sophomore Meagan Madsen (pitcher).

Junior Kirtie Mulhern (outfield) and sophomore Lauren Venechanos (shortstop) were named to the Second Team All-League; and senior Shannon Astillero (second base) earned All-League honorable mention.
