Dumont Doings
DUMONT DAY DEADLINE
—Dumont is gearing up for the annual Dumont Day Extravaganza on Saturday, Sept. 13. The day is being planned to create a family-friendly atmosphere while helping to support the borough's various nonprofit organizations.
All organizations and businesses interested in participating, as they have in the past, must have their paperwork submitted to the borough hall no later than Monday, July 7. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For those not signed up by the deadline, planners will reassign any activity not taken.
This year’s celebration will include a free concert at Memorial Field featuring Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge in place of fireworks. The concert will be sponsored by Mariner Bank, which is picking up the cost.
ROTARY SEEKING MEMBERS
— The Bergenfield-Dumont Rotary Club is seeking new members. The organization has supported the community for more than 75 years. It has provided more than $100,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates, has sponsored more than a dozen life-saving operations for children with heart ailments, and raised funds for the families of soldiers and others in need.
The club currently meets 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the 200 Main Street restaurant in New Milford. Starting July 7, meetings will be at Tommy Fox’s Public House in Bergenfield.
Upcoming events will be a car and truck Show at the Teaneck Armory in October, a beefsteak and tricky tray also in October, and a fruit sale in November.

DEMOCRATIC DOINGS
— The Dumont Democratic Organization will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. July 10 at the Schraalenburgh Inn on Madison Avenue.
Also on the agenda for July 12 is a friendly softball game between Dumont Democratic Club and the Dumont Republican Club at 2 p.m. at the Babe Ruth Field in Memorial Park.

BOOK AND BAKE SALE —
The Guild of Old North Reformed Church will hold a book and bake sale on the church lawn from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12. In case of rain, the sale will take in the education building.
The church is located at Washington and Madison avenues. Tours of the historic building are available.

DHS 50TH REUNION
— The Dumont High School Class of 1958 will hold its 50th class reunion in October. The main event will be a buffet dinner/dance on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Englewood.
There will be a cocktail hour from 7 to 8 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and open bar, followed by a buffet dinner and dancing until midnight. The cost is $100 per person, which includes a booklet with pictures of classmates.
Also planned is an informal gathering at the hotel lounge on Friday evening and on Saturday, a tour of the high school and lunch.
