Contemporary women install

Linda Mohr was installed as president of the Contemporary Woman’s Club of Bergenfield held its recent installation dinner.
Mohr is also president of the Friends of the Bergenfield Library, a previous Volunteer of the Year for Shelter Our Sisters, a member of Women United in Philanthropy and a member of the Bergenfield Garden Club.
Other officers installed for the 2008-10 term were Mary Ann Nicholson, first vice president; Gail Mohr, second vice president; Helen Steinel, secretary; Margaret Jordan, treasurer; and Patricia Wagner, federation secretary.
In addition to the officers, chairwomen were installed to head the club’s 11 departments.
Those chairwomen are: Arts creative, Marcia Becker; arts performing, Anna Zakar; conservation, Josephine Yuresko; education, Lucille Tendler; home life/social service, Rose Rush and Janet Jacobsen; house and hospitality, Barbara Berger; international affairs, Alva Pampaloni; legislation, Mary Joyce Doyle; literature, Lorraine McCarroll; membership Gloria Niepoky; and public affairs Suzanne Amitrano and Merle Gellerman.
The Contemporary Woman’s Club is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs.
The club was founded in 1937 and incorporated in 1962. Its goal is to unite the members in promoting good fellowship, civic betterment and improving the status of women.
Annually through its fund-raising activities, the club supports numerous local and state projects, such as Shelter Our Sisters, the local food bank, the National Guard, the Children’s Literacy Initiative and many other needy and worthwhile projects. The club also presents scholarships and awards to deserving students in Bergenfield.
The Contemporary Woman’s Club of Bergenfield meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at noon at South Presbyterian Church and at 7 p.m. at the Bergenfield Library.
