Holy Name will hold 11th golf invitational

TEANECK

The MS Center at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck will hold its 11th annual charity golf invitational on Monday, Sept. 15, at Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly.

The center’s national spokesperson, pro golfer Brett Massingham will once again serve as the outing’s honorary chairperson.

Massingham, who has Multiple Sclerosis, gained national attention when he qualified for and played in the PGA tour’s Los Angeles-Nissan Open in 2002, becoming the only person ever with MS to compete in a PGA Tour event.

He will offer a group golf clinic prior to the 12:30 p.m. shotgun start and will play in the tournament. Maggie Weder, an MS patient from North Carolina, will also participate. She is an amateur golf champion and decorated armed forces officer.

The day will consist of a clinic with Massingham, massages for all, a shotgun start, a long-drive contest with Maggie and an evening cocktail reception, dinner, awards ceremony and raffle.

All participants will receive a goodie bag that includes Footjoy Golf shoes.

The annual golf outing has been a significant fund-raising source for the MS Center in years past and is even more important now, given the current fund-raising climate. The center has significantly reduced the player fee from $450 per golfer to $325 per golfer.

Sponsorship and player opportunities are still available for this event. The center is also accepting donations for the auction.

For more information on the golf outing or on how to support the center, contact Lisa Futterman, the Center’s Director of Development, at 201-837-0727, Ext.3899, or e-mail her at Futterman@holyname.org.
