Pro Arte hosts a summer sing
Pro Arte Chorale is sponsoring a summer sing at 7:30 tonight, Wednesday, June 25, at Christ Church (corner of Cottage Place and Franklin Avenue) in Ridgewood.
Music Director David Crone will lead participants in a sing-through of "Haydn’s Harmoniemesse" (Missa Solemnis in B flat Major).
Admission is free, and the location is wheelchair accessible. Singers may bring their own music or rent scores for $2 each.

Shakespeare set in Hackensack park
The Hackensack Cultural Arts Center and The Hudson Shakespeare Company will present "Twelfth Night" at 7:30 tonight, Wednesday, June 25, as the kickoff to their Shakespeare in the Park series.
Future shows will be "King John" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, July 9 and July 16 and "Julius Caesar" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays Aug. 6 and Aug. 13.
Performances will be in Staib Park, corner of Summit and Coles Avenues in Hackensack. Tickets are free. Audience members should bring a blanket or a beach chair. Picnicking is encouraged.

Storyteller series slated in Teaneck
The Teaneck Creek Conservancy and the Puffin Cultural Forum will present a new summer series featuring master storytellers, who will draw from myths, fables, and folktales from around the world.
Storytellers include Veona Thomas on June 29; Julie Della Torre on July 13; Jack McKeon on July 20; and Ellen Musidant on July 27.
All events will be on Sundays at 11 a.m. and will take place outdoors at the Teaneck Creek Conservancy. Participants will meet first at the Puffin Cultural Forum. In case of rain, events will be held indoors at the Puffin Cultural Forum.
These events for the whole family are free and open to the public. Attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chair.
The Puffin Cultural Forum is located at 20 Puffin Way, formerly East Oakdene Avenue, Teaneck.

Writers’ Group sets July meeting
The next meeting of the Writers’ Group will take place on Tuesday, July 1, at 8 p.m. The group meets at the Cresskill Congregational Church, 85 Union Ave., alongside the Cresskill Borough Hall and opposite King’s supermarket.
The Writers’ Group offers an informal "workshop in progress" for all interested persons throughout Bergen County and surrounding areas. All attending will have the opportunity to read and discuss their poems, as well as short stories, essays, or parts of longer projects (such as novels or memoirs), or just to listen to others. In view of the proximity to Independence Day, some patriotic themes are suggested, but participants are free to submit writings on any topic.
The programs are offered without charge.

Puffin to continue monthly jazz jams
The Puffin Cultural Forum in Teaneck will continue its monthly Friday night Jazz Jams into the summer.
The jams are led by Teaneck piano prodigy Alex Collins and his rhythm section of Tom Dicarlo on bass and John Iannuzzi on drums.
Interested musicians are welcome to sign up to perform with the featured guest musician before an appreciative audience.
The next monthly jam is at 7 p.m. Friday, July 11. The suggested donation is $5.
Jams, which are open to the public, will be held outdoors (indoors in bad weather).

Training offered for Call Us Clowns
Call Us Clowns will hold a new series of classes for seniors and retired persons who would like to learn the basics of becoming a Caring Clown.
Caring Clowns perform primarily as volunteers, serving the whole community. Students will learn about clown make-up, costume, the clown persona, clown history and clown movement, as well as balloon sculpture, face painting, juggling, magic and other tools and skills of the Caring Clown.
The basic training course is staffed by experienced clowns and requires a total of about 20 hours, running twice a week.
Call Us Clowns, Inc. (World Clown Association, Alley #326) is a nonprofit, award-winning charitable troupe of Caring Clowns, based in Bergen County.
The clowns of Call Us Clowns perform throughout northern New Jersey, volunteering their entertainment skills mainly for charity. They serve community facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers, senior centers, libraries, and schools. The clowns also support and entertain at various fund raisers such as walk-a-thons, street fairs, and picnics. In addition, the clowns of Call Us Clowns have appeared in shows on stage for charitable fund raising events.
The next series of classes start the first week of August and there are a limited number of openings.
