Sister Paula, who will be presenting the healing testimony, is evidence of the power of healing.

In June 2003, she underwent multiple radical cancer surgeries during which doctors removed her liver, spleen, stomach, digestive system, lymph nodes and other connective tissues. She was not expected to live; she not only survived but is also able to work.

She is able to eat and function, even without a stomach, and works full time and with dedication for underprivileged children and families in the Archdiocese of Newark.

Unable to lie down since 2003, she has to sleep sitting up, often feeling pain in her body at night.

She will use Blessed Teresa’s relic during the healing service.

Ozele, the homilist and healing minister, hails from the Diocese of Wari in the Niger delta region of Nigeria. Ordained to the priesthood in 1992, he has organized numerous retreats, revivals and missions there. His audio tape, CD and DVD ministry in Nigeria is the largest in the Catholic Church. He also runs a television program in Nigeria called "Streams of Love."

In 2006, he obtained a doctorate in religious education from Fordham University. He currently resides in the Brooklyn and Queens Diocese of New York where he ministers and conducts weekly Bible studies, along with a monthly fellowship known as "Night of Glory."

He is the author of "Why Catholics Honor Mary," "Christian Maturity — Dynamics of Growing in the Faith: and "Secrets of Effective Prayer."

The annual pre-Thanksgiving healing service is sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Charismatic Prayer Group’s Santo Nino Healing Prayer Ministry, which meets 8 to 9:45 p.m. Friday in St. John’s Parish Life Center basement and in the main church at 7 p.m. on first Fridays.
